My name is Gilok Choi, a fourth year Ph.D student at the University of Texas at Austin. I am interested in how users process different forms of auditory and visual information in virtual environments. Although recent development of multi-sensory media allows us to integrate different forms of information into a simple application, a multimedia system is more difficult to build and maintain than a traditional media. My research interest was shaped during my master degree (MIME-Master of Immersive Media Environment) at Indiana University. It gave me invaluable experience with and insights on multimedia applications in designers' point of view. For the last three years at the University of Texas, I, as a Ph. D student, have become more focused on human cognitive processing and perceptual experience, which should be underlying design priciples.
